Christmas Day 6- Step Into Christmas

Here at FC God truly went before us in our planning for Christmas Services.  Last year following our Christmas services we decided to flip the script this coming year and "Step Into Christmas" and simply tell the story of Jesus birth.  Our focus in years past has always been to tell the story of Jesus' birth however we have traditionally used some pretty big production elements to help tell that story.

This year- we have production elements- but they are simple.  Think of some of the best concert moments you have experienced that were simple. That's what we are going for.  Like the time Bono came out during a U2 concert and played a single floor tom.  Simple but impacting.

During the worship set we are going to step into Christmas in look at 3 different scenes from the Christmas story. We will support the scenes with simple video elements and more traditional versions of Christmas classics.  Should be great. 

Christmas Day 5- Silent Night

"When they had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them...The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told."    Luke 2:16-18;20

Could getting people to church really be this easy?  Maybe it could be.  Maybe it should be.  What is your church doing to "spread the word concerning what you have been told about this child..."

Christmas Day 3- Upside Down Reading (Simple but GREAT)

Here is an example of a simple element we created for Christmas last year. This was one of the most memorable moments in our service last year and it was probably the easiest element we did. On another note, in the next few posts I will be making an exciting announcement about a partnership FC will be making to provide our media as a resource for churches globally. Christmas Day 2- Have You Heard?

So a lot of people have weighed in on Day 1 discussion of "How much production is to much."  I have posted several of the comments.  The comments reflect that most of us are saying the same thing, we are just saying it in a different way.  And I think that is the beauty of the Church.  We all will do things differently and uniquely according to how God has wired us and the unique call and vision He has placed on our Churches to reach different people groups.  The point is to reach people and as long as we keep that the driving force behind our creativity than I say GO FOR IT- or DON'T.  Just reach people.  There is not a one size fit's all method.

Christmas Day 1- How much production is too much??

Ok- I want to start the conversation about preparing for Christmas based on a comment I got from Brian Alexander. (thanks Brian)  Brian Wrote:

"You probably will disagree with me, but today I was listening to Francis Chan. Actually only a few minutes ago. He was talking about how people try to make Christmas the most production based thing in the church, when really it was all about a SILENT night. I'm not saying the creativity and stuff is bad (I'm actually a fan) just something to get the conversations rollin' off the tongues of people tomorrow."

What are your thoughts?  I will weigh in on this a little later.  Gotta run to a Christmas programming/production meeting.
